Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Product Basics
-
What is the weight capacity of this 5-tier rack? Each tier is rated for 1,000 lbs, for a total rack capacity of 5,000 lbs when evenly distributed.
-
What is the approximate total height of the 5-tier rack? The top of the fifth tier sits at approximately 94 inches (7' 10"). Please ensure you have adequate ceiling clearance.
-
How do the "multi-directional tiers" work? Each tier uses a system of rollers that allows a tray to be loaded or unloaded smoothly from the end or the side of the rack.
-
Does this rack come with wheels? This rack comes standard with adjustable leveling feet for fixed, stable placement. Heavy-duty locking casters (wheels) are available as an optional add-on.
Features & Options 5. What are adjustable leveling feet? They are threaded feet that can be individually adjusted to make the rack perfectly level and stable, even on uneven floors. 6. If I order the optional casters, are they the locking type? Yes, we only use heavy-duty, 360-degree swivel casters that feature a simple and secure foot-operated locking brake. 7. Can I add casters to the rack later on? Yes, the rack is designed to accept either the leveling feet or casters. You can order a caster set from us at any time. 8. Is the break-apart design standard on this model? Yes, the knock-down design is standard to facilitate shipping and installation in rooms with standard-sized doorways.
Materials & Construction 9. Why choose stainless steel for a 5-tier rack? For a high-capacity rack, the superior strength, rigidity, and corrosion resistance of stainless steel ensures long-term structural integrity and safety. 10. Is this rack safe to place permanently in a cooler? Absolutely. The stainless steel construction is ideal for the cold, high-humidity environment of a walk-in cooler.
Installation & Site Prep 11. Due to its height, are there any special installation requirements? We highly recommend securing the rack to a wall for added stability, though it is freestanding. Ensure your floor is rated for the rack's total potential weight. 12. Is the ceiling height of my facility important for this model? Yes, critically important. We recommend a minimum ceiling height of 9 feet (108 inches) to allow for safe use of the top tier with a body lift. 13. Can one person assemble this 5-tier rack? No. Due to the height and weight of the components, a minimum of two people is required for safe assembly. Three people are recommended.
Ordering & Warranty 14. What is the warranty on the stainless steel frame? The welded stainless steel frame is covered by our 20-Year Structural Warranty against defects in workmanship. 15. Is this model typically in stock or built to order? Our 5-tier racks are typically built to order. Please call us at 1-888-792-9315 for current lead times. 16. How do I request a quote for a custom version? Call us directly to speak with an equipment specialist. We can customize height, width, and tier spacing to your exact needs.
Compatibility & Use 17. Is this rack compatible with standard cadaver lifts? Yes, it is designed to standard industry dimensions and works with most scissor lifts and other body lifts. 18. How much clearance is needed above the rack to use the top tier effectively? We recommend at least 12-18 inches of clearance above the rack itself to maneuver a body tray with a lift. 19. What is the best way to clean this stainless steel rack? Use mild soap and water or an approved stainless steel cleaner. Always rinse thoroughly and wipe dry. 20. Who is the ideal customer for a 5-tier rack? Facilities with high decedent volume and limited floor space, such as large funeral homes, crematories, hospitals, and county or state medical examiners.
